My family doesn't eat lobster the traditional way americans eat their lobsters. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against steaming a lobster with garlic butter and lemons, but when she cooks up a lobster, she goes all out. It may not be made exactly the way they do it at chinese restaurants, but the aroma alone is enough to knock your senses out. She almost always has a healthier way of cooking things lol. Anyway, this is my mom's version of Lobster Chow Mein. yum =)
Friday Oct 30th, we decided to go lobster fishing out of San Diego landing. San Diego is suppose to be the lobster central of California. All of us have paid our dues lobstering out of Huntington/Long Beach area without much luck. I've also heard Dana Point to be a good area, but my buddy that fished out of San Diego a few times already and limited out every single time. However, with the weather change and a bright moon, it could turn either way. I'm not a big fan of the landing at San Diego, because there isn't a dock you can just walk your boat in. Its also has a has very small area to maneuver, and if you don't know what your doing, theres an very good chance you WILL hit the jetty not too far behind you. Anyways, we packed the promar traps with bait and let them soak for about 30 minutes. First trap had nothing, but the 2nd trap jeff pull up 2 keepers. I was excited after that and pulled the 2nd string of traps. I ended up pulling the biggest lobster of the night weighing in at 6.5lbs! Very exciting stuff, but to make the long story short, the Navy ended up kicking us out of our spot and so we ended the night with only 11 lobster and one big spider crab. We tossed back about 8 huge snails, that i didnt know if we could keep or not and a bunch of spider crab which I didn't care for unless they were huge. So in the end we picked up about 30lbs of lobsters. Even though we didn't limit out, it was by far the the most fun and productive trip I've ever been on. The monster lobsters really made up for it. They are such beautiful creatures(and tasty too) lol. The scenery in San Diego is so nice, if I had more time I would've gone just to take pictures, and there was no way I'd bring my camera on board the boat. Salt water is not your friend when it comes to valuable electronics. I Hope you all get to experience the joy of catching your own lobsters someday! Very hard work, but well worth it! =)
What can I tell you about Narano Sushi that has me coming back for more? I've been eating here since my high school days and despite all the competition out there. There will always be a place in my heart for Narano Sushi. I went there the other day and started talking to the chef at the sushi bar, and it turns out he remembered me from high school(i was class of 02 and he was 03). His father owns the restaurant and needed help, so he works there full time. Anyways he decided to cook me up something special and not on the menu. Tuna on the inside and albacore on the outside slightly seared with a glazed garlic sauce. Anyways I don't want to blog anymore so I'm just going to post the pictures and let the pictures speak for themselves. Have fun drooling =)
It's that time of year again, when the leaves turn orange and start to fall. Temperatures swing and change like your girlfriend's mood on her period. Oh yes and it's time to pick out your pumpkins to carve a jack-o-lantern! This year we decided to visit Tanaka Farm's pumpkin patch. At Tanaka farm, there is so much to see including:
* Wagon Ride around the 30 acre farm
* Wander around the corn maze
* Pick your own vegetables
* See 20 different animals in our petting zoo
* Take pictures by the mound of pumpkins
* Finally pick your own pumpkin right off the vine
It's a very fun experience to enjoy with your friends, family, and loved ones. Don't forget to bring your cameras! Keep warm everyone!
